What can we say? We’re comfortable using the
"L-word."

Seems like just about everyone is dropping the
LEED-label lately. Green this and green that. At Thornton Place it feels good to actually mean it!

LEED is a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.*

Not only is Thornton Place designated a LEED Silver development, but it is also expected to be among a select group of national neighborhoods that have been invited to join LEED's Neighborhood Development Pilot program – a new system that integrates the principles of smart growth, urbanism and green building. Both of these LEED designations ensure that Thornton Place will meet high levels of environmentally responsible, sustainable development.
