I heard that you offer special rents for people earning 80% or 90% of median income. How does that work?

Thornton Place is part of the HOME program through HUD's program called HOME. HOME is a program that provides Federal grant dollars to local governments exclusively to create affordable housing for the work force, also called work force housing. This is not low income housing, rather it is providing more affordable homes for people such as teachers, police officers, medical technicians or carpenters.

Apartments throughout the community have been designated as part of this program – in all home types – studio, one and two bedroom. Residents renting within the program are required to show proof of income.

If you fit the income guidelines of this program, we’d welcome you to call our leasing team at 206-523-1111 and talk to us about the options.

What are your pet policies?

The Thornton Place management team allows 2 furry friends per apartment. One dog, one cat or two dogs or two cats – you pick!

For dogs, we understand that the size of the dog doesn't necessarily dictate how he or she will behave. So, we don’t have a weight limit. But, we ask for a pet interview. You can prep Fido on how to answer our questions – sit, shake, roll over, fetch the paper. No not really. The interview is to see how the dog will live in an apartment. We do however, have to be aware and respectful of all of our residents. While aggressive breed dogs can absolutely be lovely and kind, they make other people uncomfortable. For that reason we do restrict aggressive breeds.

I am passionate about recycling. Are there easy ways to recycle at Thornton Place?

We're a bit crazy about recycling too. With our anticipated LEED-Silver home status and LEED-ND designation for the entire neighborhood, we believe in all things that are good for Mother Earth. Recycling stations are found on all floors of the apartment buildings. The City of Seattle recently revised the recycling rules – ensuring that very little enters our landfills.
